sneak peek {Adelaide Wedding Photographer}

Kate and I had an absolutely wonderful day last week photographing Carol and Bill.

Recently wed in Hong Kong this totally sweet couple honeymooned in Australia and stayed at the equisite luxury hotel The Louise in the Barossa Valley. If you want a relaxing weekend away or a truly romantic hideaway this is the place, just perfect.  Traveling with them was their wedding attire all ready for a photoshoot with us, a yummy cheese platter, a bottle of delicious champagne and a sunny afternoon. How stunning do they both look?! I fell in love with the wedding rings, both engraved with personal message and wedding date.

We began the afternoon with a picnic for two (and two more with cameras!)

totally cute! They snuggled and kissed and cuddled all afternoon!

Custom Weddings

We came across some fabulous locations – a vineyard, railway track, more vineyards, The Louise itself, a lovely park and more vineyards. We are so blessed to live in a state which is surrounded by gorgeous countryside filled with many vineyards acknowledged all over the world.

And one of my favourite shots of the day – a candid moment of these two in their own little love bubble… (this is the view from their room by the way – nice huh!)

Engagement Photography

And just for something different to finish off….. although these are just my shots… I will post some more of Kate’s later! What a fun day!

Looking forward to sending you your full gallery Bill and Carol. Hope you had a wonderful time here in ‘Oz’ and come back and visit us again sometime.

Sneak Peek {Adelaide Family Photographer}

Oh I am just LOVING this spring weather!!

Pretty summer dresses, happy families and lots of lovely sunshine – it makes the soul sing!

I had the pleasure of photographing this gorgeous family in their beautiful home on Wednesday this week. It was so much fun! I tell you 18 month olds certainly make you work hard! But it was balanced with a sensational 4 year old (nearly 5!) who was perfectly content to ‘work it’ for the camera!

Sneak Peek {Adelaide Wedding Photographer}

You know how sometimes you meet people who are just so much fun to be around?  That is Skye and David! So relaxed and casual but still so excited about their upcoming wedding.

They have chosen the delicious location of Longview Winery in Macclesfield, a small country town on the Fleurieu Peninsula for their wedding.  We met there last Saturday just before the sun went down to snoop out some lcoations. Everywhere I turned was gorgeous countryside, rolling hills, lush vines, windy dirt tracks. It is going to be a gem for bridal portraits.

Here they are, so sweet together….

Sneak Peek {Adelaide Maternity Photographer}

Spring has finally sprung!

And the babies are coming :)

It was so nice to wander around Glenelg on Monday morning with this gorgeous couple. Karen is 31 weeks pregnant, and totally glowing. Ben and Karen have been living in Queensland for 4 years and were in SA for a quick family and friend visit before heading home to await the arrival of their little one.

It was lovely to have a simple maternity photography session with such a relaxed and fun couple, and on such a beautiful morning ….

Sneak Peek {Adelaide Family Photographer}

This gorgeous little girl, Dekoda, is my son, Charlee’s bestest friend. They fight and laugh and play like brother and sister. It is just adorable to watch. They love eachother so much they giggle themselves silly and they fight so much that they turn their backs and cross their arms at eachother. Im sure you parents know the stance I am talking about!

This is Dekoda and one of the most patient, caring, loving, generous, fun, kind mums I have ever met.

For the last year Dekoda and Charlee have spent almost every day together. Sharing days at childcare together and on the non-childcare days Dekoda’s amazing mummy looks after them both. Today marked a change in their friendship journey. Koda and Charlee will be going to separate Kindy’s and today was Charlee’s first day of pre-entry. He was so so excited. As we walked towards the gates, bag on back, talking about all the fun things you get to do at kindy, he stopped me suddenly, looked me in the eye and in a very concerned voice he asked quietly ‘Will Koda bet there?’ So sweet.

Enjoy your sneak peek guys.

National Baby Loss Day – ACOCP

ACOCP: “On Baby Loss Day –

Picture the Babies. Talk and Listen to the Parents.”

15 October 2009 – Today, on International Baby Loss Day, The Australian Community of Child Photographers (ACOCP) is urging people to recognise the many families that go through the tragic loss of a child, rather than risk isolating them by neglecting to acknowledge their loss.

International Baby Loss Awareness Day is 15 October. Across the world, memorial services, balloon releases and candle lighting at 7pm take place in honour and as a sign of remembrance for lost children.

Said Jessie Broome, president and co-founder of ACOCP, “The grief that follows the loss of a child is so engulfing but it can also be very isolating. We encourage people to take the time to honour this grief; to realise that by avoiding the subject does not make it go away and by simply acknowledging the child can help the family immensely.”

ACOCP is an entirely not-for-profit Australian organisation that gives the gift of photographic memories to families who have had a stillbirth, premature baby, infant in the NICU or child with serious or terminal illnesses. Participating photographers – some of whom have previously experienced their own loss – are on call 24/7 to go to hospitals or homes and are often present during the families’ most tragic hours.

Jessie continued, “The wider community finds the loss of a child very difficult. We find it difficult to know what to say or what to do, so often tend to stay away – particularly after the funeral. The process goes on for a long time and support is needed over the long haul and not just the first weeks.

“Listening is the key. Parents often want to tell you the stories of their children. You don’t have to say much. Alternatively, some people find practical measures easier, such as helping out with cooking meals, child care services or housework.

“It’s understandable that people feel at a loss of what to say or do – for a long time, death has been a taboo subject in our society. It’s not something people discuss, but I think we must.”

The Role of Photography in the Grieving Process

Jessie explains the important role the ACOCP plays, “The most heartbreaking thing in the world is losing a child. As a parent, we look forward to watching our child grow, finding out who they are and watching them develop. We fill boxes with drawings and paintings and reports and photos. When you lose a baby, you also lose a lifetime of memories.

“In some situations, when facing the death of a child, parents are encouraged to take time with their little one. They are given a fleeting opportunity to try to create a lifetime of memories within a small space of time. They are encouraged to bond with their child, to hold them, to sing to them. To take their footprints, a lock of their hair and as many photos as possible. This is where the ACOCP comes in. We capture many beautiful, professional-quality, images in the most loving and sensitive way, so that parents has something that they can share with family and friends, something to treasure and remember always.”

More Stories

Martine Oglethorpe is an ACOCP members who also lost her baby daughter, Ava at five months:

“Nothing will ever take away the pain of losing a child but having photos is so important not only for comfort but to help keep their memory alive, particularly for other siblings who would otherwise not remember.

“It is hard for people to know what to say but I know for myself that I much prefer people to continue to acknowledge her and include her as part of our family. I have a canvas photo of her beautiful smiling face hanging on our wall and I too was wary of how people would react but mostly they just smile back at her and comment on how gorgeous it is.”

Said Mel Bright, ACOCP photographer:

“Recently I was chatting with a mum whose baby had passed away at 12 hours old. I took his portraits after he died. The part of our conversation that struck me the most was that she didn’t have clear memories of the time she had with her baby. She ended up having a caesarean, which I believe is often very common in these circumstances. For her, this cloudy time was the only time she got to spend with her son.

“The photographs clearly showing what her baby looked like have been ever so meaningful for her. When I prepared an album for her, I did all the pictures black and white. This meant so much to her as she was able to comfortably share her pictures with family and friends. Just as any proud parent would like to.”

Sneak Peek {Adelaide Wedding Photographer}

I woke up Saturday morning to a glorious blue sky and I thought ‘what a beautiful day for a wedding’.

At around midday Kate and I headed to the gorgeous Maslin Beach to photograph the wedding of Ty and Jay. The sky was blue, the breeze light and some perfectly placed clouds drifted across the sky.  It could not have been more perfect for a beach wedding!

As you can see, we were working with an incredibly enthusiastic and fun bridal party!

Thanks for a great day and to the weatherman for the perfect weather! (I write this as hail thumps against my roof!)

Sneak Peek {Adelaide Wedding Photographer}

This Adelaide Wedding was just gorgeous.

Relaxed. Fun. Intimate.

Held at Partridge House at Glenelg with a lovely group of family and friends Leonie and Tom became husband and wife…. and little Mr G, Mr F and Miss I accepted Tom into their family.  It was a beautiful union of a very special group of people. Kate and I were incredibly fortunate to have been able to capture these moments in time.

We began the afternoon photographing Leonie getting ready with Miss I and a few close friends. The bond between mother and child glowed in every corner of their house…. from the poster on the fridge saying ‘My mum is special because….’ to the Optimus Prime poster on the wall in Mum’s bedroom (courtesy of the kids I THINK….) it was evident that this was a house filled with many happy memories and many more to come….

As we arrived at the ceremony, Master G was ready to walk his mum down the aisle.

The limo pulled up with the absolutely stunning Leonie inside and Master G was gasping for breath – I could hear him whispering how beautiful she looked.

He just gazed at her, totally mesmerised, so much love and so much pride in that one look, one single moment.

I’m pretty certain it took everything for Tom to wait as Leonie walked towards him. You could tell he wanted to run and grab her and never let her go!

And Leonie was so excited she giggled through the whole ceremony – she is so gorgeous!

The second shot here is the couples reaction to ‘I now pronounce you husband and wife’….

The light was perfect and we had a small window of opportunity to snap away. We took every single second!

Thanks for a lovely afternoon and for trusting us to ‘do our thing’.

Talk soon.
