Sneak Peek {Adelaide Wedding Photographer}

I love weddings. SO much.

I love being a part of the ‘process’ of planing a wedding.

I love meeting a bride and groom to be who are so totally in love, that every word, every action, every look oozes the love they have for eachother.

‘D’ and ‘J’ are so clearly emphatically perfection together. Their November wedding in the Adelaide Hills sounds just divine!

They snuggled, and giggled and joked and gazed at eachother lovingly… then giggled some more.

Kate and I are so lucky to have a job where we can share this experience and this coming wedding season is going to be an absolute blast!

These two met purely by chance.  ’D’ is an Adelaide boy and ‘J’ from Tassie. And the two of them met for the first time the other side of the country in Queensland, how is that for fate?!

Enjoy your sneak peek guys, will be in touch soon!

Funny that this was the first shoot I have ever wished for rain on…. had a fabulous idea…. and it rained all day… right up to about 10 minutes before the shoot! LOL!

sneak peek {Adelaide newborn photographer}

Today I photographed a gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous newborn baby girl, only five days old.

She was just incredible. Slept the entire time. Totally content in her new home.

And Mum and Dad were real troopers, feeling under the weather as well as sleep deprived they welcomed me into their lovely home just outside of Strathalbyn on the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula (although the weather isn’t so beautiful today!)

Thank you for a fabulous morning – she is a gem.  Enjoy your sneak peek.

The wonder of a newborn… {Adelaide newborn photographer}

The wonder of a newborn never ceases to amaze me.

Pregnant with my son I was sure that once he was born it would all make sense. Creation. Family. That unconditional bond that can not be replicated.

But it didn’t.

And four years on I still sit watching in complete awe the newborns I am so privileged to photograph.

Time seems to stand still, even if just for a moment, when you watch a new baby sleeping. Their breath. Their tiny hands. Their body curled around mimicking the position they were in in the womb.  Surviving solely off their mothers body. With no other need than to be warm, loved and fed.

There is something so special, so magical about photographing newborns. Capturing those precious few days. And I go home every time and cuddle my family, reminded of how quickly the time goes by, how quickly they change and how thankful I am that I have the memories etched in my mind and on paper because I took the time to stop and observe the miracle right in front of me.

Breathe in your children, cuddle them every moment you can.

Friends …. {adelaide family photographer}

Life has funny ways of teaching us lessons. Sometimes they are small lessons .. (like don’t let wet weetbix sit on the kitchen bench too long) ….. and sometimes they are huge, massive and life changing …. where life gets a chuck of wood and smacks you over the head with the lesson!

For some reason, life decided that this was my year to learn the true meaning of friendship. Its been a bitter sweet lesson to learn (and a long story – don’t ask!) It was also one of those ‘chunk of wood’ lessons! … but it is a lesson that I value, immensely, and I am a better person for having learnt it in the manner that I did.

But friendship is a funny thing. Sometimes transient, and sometimes constant, and sometimes a mixture of both. From my experience the single constant element in true friendship is honesty … without honesty … well … you get the picture …

Every 6 months, since these friends were pregnant with their first child, I have had the pleasure of photographing them. These friends, are ‘true’ friends. Its not like we catch up that often, or for long periods, but when we do it is warm, comfy and honest. Over the years they have often been better friends to us, than we have to them … yet we are still blessed to be able to call them friends. Share a meal. Have a laugh. And for this I am truly, truly grateful.

As I get older, I realise that our ‘teachers’ appear in the places you least expect. These friends have taught me how to be strong, when I have turned to them in weakness. They have shown me how to be powerful, when I have felt powerless. They have shown me love, when I felt all was lost. And they have put up with me leaning on them, when I’m sure they felt many burdons of their own. Above all, they have taught me the true meaning of friendship. And they have done it, just by being them. Honestly.

Sneak Peek {Adelaide Newborn photographer}

To be welcomed into someone’s home, someone’s life, to photograph a new baby is such a privilege.

From the moment I walked in this family welcomed me with their calm and relaxed nature. 2 week old ‘A’ was no exception. She was perfectly calm and I left after 3 hours of shooting (and drinking tea) with her still sleeping peacefully in mums arms….. ahhhhh my newborn fix…. she totally made me want one of my own   =)

Thank you for a lovely morning of giggles, cuddles, great conversation and a very funny camera shy dog (in a super cute way).

Here is your sneak peek…

Happy Birthday

Today is a very special day. Today is the birthday of my best, most trustworthy, most loved, loyal and beloved friend.

I met her when I was 4 years old. I know her so intimately close that we often say the same thing at the same time. We chat on msn and we cross post, only to laugh at ourselves as we have typed the same words, come up with the same idea, reacted the same to something. If I were lucky enough to have been given a sister, I know it would have been her.

She is one of the most amazing people I know. She makes me want to be a better mum, a better wife, a better photographer. Just by watching her and what she does. She is inspiring and creative and is one of the most patient, compassionate human beings I have ever met.

She is the kind of mum who chases her kids around the playground pretending to be a monster instead of just sitting on the bench. She is the kind of wife who doesn’t need to be told he needs a hug, she just hugs him. And she is the kind of friend who is just there, all the time, any time. For anything.

Most of our clients do not realise how close Kate and I are and how well we know each other. This is why we work so well shooting together… we just seem to know where the other one is and what they are doing… we barely even speak and we don’t get in each other’s way!

Thank you Kate for everything you are. You are amazing and I adore you.

Happy Birthday my friend. xoxxo.

This is my Kate.

Love you.

a little break …. {adelaide family photographer}

Some of my current clients know that I escaped for a few days with my beautiful family …

We headed off for some R&R to a little place called Point Turton on the Yorke Peninsula. And I was very proud of myself! I even left my mobile AT HOME! …

We stayed in a beautiful little (big!) beach house with the most amazing views from the huge picture windows …

Lucky us, having a two year old who likes to get up VERY early, we never seem to miss a beautiful sunrise …

adelaide-family-photographer-4

The beaches near where we stayed were very uninspiring for the kids (no sand = boredom) so we went for a drive and found a gorgeous beach near the Corny Point Light house …

This is our little boy, Max, 3 … the lighthouse can be seen way off in the distance …

adelaide-family-photographer1

Morgan, 5 …

adelaide-family-photographer-15

Morgan and her little-sister-who-loves-her-to-bits, Iliana, 2 …

adelaide-family-photographer-33

So, thanks to all our beautiful clients who wished us a good break. We really had a relaxing time, which we needed as this year has been super hectic!

Merryn did an awesome job of taking on the work of both of us for a few days (thanks babe!) …

Newborn Sneak peek {adelaide newborn photographer}

I am blessed that I love my job. Not many people can say that. I love everything about it (well … maybe not the ridiculous lengths of time in front of the computer) but pretty much EVERYTHING. Especially, meeting gorgeous families who are so full of love that you can see it all around – and to help tell their story.

There was a main protagonist, only 6 weeks old, around whom this happy family gathered to celebrate his arrival. One set of grandparents having flown all the way from the UK just to meet him. There were smiles, and laughter and memorable moments and quiet, loving gazes as we waited for the center of attention to drift off to sleep …

and some totally funky shots of dad with his guitar …

{thanks so much for a gorgeous morning R, T & H. Your little man (and your entire family) is a sheer delight! I’ll have your gallery ready as soon as possible}

3 gorgeous girls & 3 gorgeous boys {Adelaide Family Photographer}

You may recognise Little Miss J and Baby R from their session a few weeks ago…. I was lucky enough to be asked back to meet the rest of the family and had a ball photographing these lovely children (and pretty cool parents too)…  after umming and ahhing over where we could go that was close by to get an outdoors location I discovered their own private trail leading down a hill to a tiny little clearing with a creek running through it topped off with a rustic timber bridge…. heaven!

adelaide-family-photographer-31

This family are just gorgeous, I feel like I know them from somewhere… they made me feel so welcome, like an old family friend there to catch up. And these kids were amazing – ‘K’ was just as excited about the gorgeous photo locations around their property as I was…. I have a feeling we may have a budding photographer here….

The whole family shots were fun, I must have looked so silly trying to get Miss J and Baby R to look at  the camera at one point I was laughing so much at myself I couldnt hold the camera still =)

adelaide-family-photographer-11

and finaly….

adelaide-family-photographer-21

Hope you enjoyed the rest of your day, and also hope it didn’t hurt too much Little K – Im sure the lollipop helped!

Thank you for inviting me into your home again.

Mxx
