Autumn Mini Sessions {fundraiser for the ACOCP}

header-for-acocp-mini-session

Many of you know that both Merryn and I do a lot of work for the South Australian section of the Australian Community of Child Photographers.

It is such a beautiful organisation, photographing hundreds of families each year who have suffered a stillbirth, or who have children who are critically or terminally ill, or born extremely premature – helping them savour the precious memories in a beautiful and artistic fashion.

This year the ACOCP photographers are each holding ‘mini sessions’ to help raise much needed funds.

WHAT IS A MINI SESSION?

A mini session is a short photography session of approximately 15-20 minutes.

WHAT DO I GET?

You will receive a password protected private online gallery with 10-15 images for you to choose your favorite images from.

You will receive one free 5×7″ print of your choice (valued at $30).

You can choose any further prints from our standard Product Guide

WHERE ARE THEY HELD?

We will be holding the mini sessions at the Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens, lower gates, with the first session starting at 10 am on Saturday 23rd May 2009

HOW MUCH DO THEY COST?

You will make a $50 donation directly to the Australian Community of Child Photographers via this link, and we will give you a free 5×7″ print of your choice from your gallery of images.

HOW DO I BOOK?

We will be running sessions every 30 minutes, starting at 10 am – 11.30 and 12.30 – 3pm. We have a maximum 0f 20 sessions ONLY. So be quick! …

Call Kate on 0419 809 570 or email info@headinthecloudsphotography.com.au.

Sneak peek {Adelaide Newborn Photographer}

oh, how I love newborn shoots. they are just so snuggly and warm, and, quite frankly, if it wasn’t for my newborn shoots, and getting my ‘baby fix’, I would probably be hassling my hubby for another baby!

I flew in from Melbourne on the 6am flight, and headed out to this beautiful new family at lunch time … but the mum and dad knew all I needed was a couple of good coffees, and together we got some awesome images.

Business Bootcamp {Adelaide Photographer}

Well … the whirlwind of life doesn’t seem to slow down.

On Monday evening I flew out of Adelaide and headed towards Melbourne to stay with a great friend of mine, Jessie Broome, of J-Studios, and to attend the Business Bootcamp run by Liana Lehman, a photographer from Atlanta.

Besides being completely shocked by the Tiger Airways terminal in Melbourne (it is seriously, like a cattle yard with a luggage collection section!), I was collected by the beautiful Stacey, and Jess and we headed back to her home in Point Cook. By the time we got there, Liana and her new husband, Mike, had arrived also – (not so) fresh from their flight from New Zealand.

It really was a case of getting straight into it, starting at about about 8 am each morning, and going through to 8 pm. (I now know why she calls it a bootcamp!). But it was a wonderful experience. To hang out with 10 awesomely talented photographers, and chat and dream and laugh and cry and, above all, overhaul our business practices and policies until they are shining bright … it was  a fabulous thing to experience, and something that will hold me in good stead for the rest of my life.

Amazingly enough, we didn’t even touch a camera until very late on the last day, when we finally got the chance to snap a few images (Gemma and Janet raced home and got their wedding dresses for a quick bridal session) which was a heap of fun and a great way to end the workshop. Here’s a couple of images of the gorgeous Gemma from Iris Creations Photography

For a few more images, check out Jessie’ blog here. I have made some wonderful friends during the last week, and I can’t wait to see the changes that my other ‘bootcampers’ begin to make in their businesses too … :)

Edited to add: I forgot to say … (just a small brag about how wonderful my darling husband is) … not only did he survive a week alone at home with three kids during school holidays, but he completely re-decorated our bedroom, painted, de cluttered, painted the bed and bedsides and made it look like a million dollars … it felt like ‘Domestic Blitz’ as he and our eldest daughter lead me down the hallway with my eyes closed! …. *mwah* I love you so much babe.

Sneak peek {Adelaide Family Photographer}

I’m still in Melbourne (attending an amazing workshop, – I’ll tell you about it all later), but I promised this beautiful family a sneak peek as soon as possible.

We had such a lovely session on the weekend, this little man and his family are stunning, and the laughter was contagious. The funniest faces were pulled, and add a crazy dog in the mix, and it was a great shoot.

two of my favourite clients {Adelaide maternity photographer}

I photographed ‘M’ and ‘C’ when they married early 2008.  It was one of the most emotional wedding ceremonies I have ever witnessed.  I had to stop to clear the view finder a number of times from my tears.  So I was ecstatic to hear that they are expecting a baby very very soon.  Enjoy your sneak peek.

Beautiful Birth Festival – a celebration of pregnancy, birth and babies …

We are proud to announce that on the 3rd of May, Head in the Clouds Photography will be displaying a wonderful selection of our maternity and newborn photography at the Beautiful Birth Festival being held at the Fullarton Park Centre from 9am to 5pm.

The Beautiful Birth Festival is a celebration of pregnancy, birth and babies … as well as being educational and informative, with speakers, movies and workshops for the whole day.

It is an event that is close to my heart. For those who know me personally, I gave birth to my third child naturally, after having two previous caesarean sections. This is not something that is ‘normally’ done, and although every woman’s birth journey is a very personal one, I have learnt that all women must birth their babies in the way they believe is best for themselves, their baby and their family – no matter how that is. Birth is about choice, and choice must be respected.

The Beautiful Birth Festival is a festival to celebrate pregnancy and birth. Come and support this awesome community event, set to be a wonderful day! Make sure you come and say hello !

Sneak peek {Adelaide Wedding Photographer}

As wedding photographers, Merryn and I get the opportunity to witness some of the most beautiful days. It is such an honor to be asked to capture the detail and emotion of a couples’ wedding day … knowing that these images will help them remember their day when they are retelling it to their children … and grandchildren. This is my sneak peek for E&T … it was such a fun day … enjoy.
