sneak peek ~ maternity {adelaide maternity photographer}

Seriously. I have the best job.

Maternity’s have got to be one of my all time favorites to photograph. Such a celebration of the amazingness (is that a word?) for what the female body can do … it is truly beautiful …

and because Master Wallace would feel totally left out if he didn’t see his own portrait in the sneak peek …

{thanks so much for a wonderful morning guys. It was a heap of fun. I can’t wait to hear whether it’s a pinkie or a bluey! … Kx }

…forget the flowers – this bride’s got style!

I am the Photographer. I get the inside view.  I notice every detail, every glance, every touch.  Occasionally, someone very close to me gets married and I get to see it all twice – once as Merryn the Photographer, and once as Merryn the friend.  I have known ‘R’ since we were 12 years old.  We have so many fabulous memories of our childhood.  Although it was in between wiping tears from my view finder, I was able to capture the essence of these two perfectly – fun, relaxed, free spirits.

{Sorry ‘R’ but I have to mention it…} …as the bride arrived at the ceremony she burst into laughter – she had forgotten the flowers! A potential disaster transformed into a beautiful entrance by a stunning bride who did not need flowers to compliment her unique style anyway.

To: ‘R & A’ – it meant the world to me to be a part of your day, thank you for your patience, your humour and for sharing your raw, open and honest love for each other.

a vineyard wedding {it’s amore}

Oh my gosh. Can I tell you something?

I LOVE weddings. LOVE them. I love the big white dresses, long flowing veils, the big old cars, the big bouquets, and the even bigger reception halls. I love the huge crowds, the silent anticipation for the arrival of the bride, the look on the grooms face as he sees his bride …

But …. you know what I ADORE? … a beautiful little winery …. a spring afternoon … twisted willow either side of a small wrought iron table … the sun dipping behind clouds, drenching the view across fields with warm orange light … a bride and groom, holding hands with their mothers’, following behind their daughter … walking … together … down a loosly formed isle … between friends and family.

I adore a simple corsage. An Alexis George gown. Fresh rose petals. A reception room so beautiful and intimate that it makes your heart skip. A live band. Champagne and horsd’oeuvres on the terrace. And I adore a groom who has organised for the entire crowd to help him sing “It’s Amore” to his new bride as a surprise!

Simply. Beautiful.

And this stunning location? The most perfect little winery in Woodside, Bird in Hand winery. Lynette, who looked after the hosting of the occasion was wonderful!, I’ve never seen someone so calm whilst hosting so many people!

Thank you so much K&D&O for letting me share your day. One of the most beautiful weddings I have ever been to.

Kx

Monarto Zoo {photographic wholesalers}

On Tuesday this week, we went on the most amazing tour of Monarto Zoo as part of Photographic Wholesalers‘ safari tour.

It was a cross between PMA and a mammalian Jurrassic Park. They provided 5 HUGE coaches from Adelaide up to Monarto, we sat up the back of bus 2 and managed to sit with a great bunch of guys and talked shop the whole way there …

They had set up 6 stations where Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Sony, Pentax, Hasselblad and Bowens Lighting. We could play as much as we want … HUGE lenses … top of the range bodies. Oh we were in heaven. We were all provided with CF and xd cards so we could try all the bodies and lenses but still keep our images and download them at home.

At each of the stations they had professional models available for us to try out the cameras and lenses … here’s a few snaps …

goooorgeous ...
goooorgeous …
despite it looking like there was noone else except the model .. there were actually people *everywhere* .. see pair of legs behind the model ... !

a behind the scenes shot ... and there actually wasn't many photographers at this one!
a behind the scenes shot … and there actually wasn’t that many photographers at this one!

We did get a few shots of the real wildlife as well … but there is only so many giraffes you can take photos of! …

All up we had an awesome day. We met some wonderful characters (gosh some photographers are funny!) and came away with some great shots. It was super exhausting, but so great to immerse ourselves in photography with hundreds of other like minded people.

The biggest thank you EVER!

I have a story to tell.

A mother of four young children, including a set of twins, this inspirational woman has been running her own highly successful photography business for over 5 years. Not only that, but she is also President of the ACOCP, and has been instrumental in starting this organisation from nothing. She is also highly active in the AIPP as well as organising and hosting workshops from international photographers, such as Liana Lehman. We are talking about the wonderful Jessie Broome

Amongst her work, family and community committments, this gorgeous woman found the time to take us under her wing and teach us what she knows about this photography business! And for this we are forever in her debt. Endless hours on msn dealing with crazy questions and offering unending encouragement and ‘tell it like it is’ constructive critisism have made this change to the new Head in the Clouds Photography as smooth and as painless as it could possibly be. Thank you so, so much. (mwah!)

And just because we think this woman is fabulous, we would love it if you could all check out the finalists for this years Canon Photo 5 competition. Out of thousands of entries, Jessie got TWO selected in the final 50. The winner is decided on votes from here on in, so …. ahem … cough … if you feel that Jessie’s entries are as fab as we think they are, all you need to do is register to vote and click on the image! (image 3 in the crayon section, and image 3 in the bubbles section – professional finalists)

We can’t think of anyone more deserving of such a wonderful prize ($5000 of Canon products!) ….
