belly beautiful …

It is both scary and wonderful when we are asked by friends to photograph a special time in their lives … Scary in a ‘gosh, its like having friends rock up at work‘ and wonderful in a humbling – ‘they asked ME to photograph them! ‘ kind of way …

.

I’ve known this family since I met Nikki at Mum’s Group nearly 7 years ago – 20-or-so sleep deprived, foggy brained first time mums all wondering how on earth they could love their brand new tiny babes so intensely.

.

As the weeks and months went by, our Mum’s Group finished with about 5 or so mums and kids getting together every fortnight for cake, coffee (aka wine and whine!) … our children now go to school together, and we catch up for a few seconds every day at drop offs and pick ups, and of course, the odd ‘mums-night-off’ … (bring on Tuesday night girls!)

So it was an honor to photograph this beautiful family, awaiting the arrival of Number 3 (I guess I mustn’t have put Nikki off too much with my three!) …

At 35 weeks, and totally sick of people asking her if she is sure there is only one baby in there? … she is looking totally divine! … (oh and no wonder they are adding a number three .. the first two are suuuuper cute!)

Sometimes a shoot comes along and I drool with excitement.

When the weather is perfect and the planets are aligning in such a way that you just *know* it will be a fabulous shoot …

This is just an example of a shoot like that.

Rebecca runs Lotus Organic Therapies and is 34 weeks pregnant with her first little bubba. And she is totally cute!

I don’t know if it was the seaside cottage, the wetsuit on the line, the surf board in the lounge, or the surfing trophies that gave it away, but I guessed they were a bit ‘beachy’, and Rebecca had the idea to head down to the beach for some shots just before sunset ….

I’m very glad we did that!

the little guy follow Rebecca is ‘Thomas’, he is about 170 years old, and if he could keep up, I’m sure he would be by Rebecca’s side every second of the day!

and just as we were leaving, mother nature provided an ‘ok’ backdrop …

*sigh* divine ha?

There is just something magical about the impending arrival of a new bubba … having had three of my own (and YES, I’m finished!), I look back on the experience with fondness … I can still feel the roundness of my belly, and the strangest feeling of a foot under my rib cage or the baby having hiccups … I remember sitting on the couch with my husband watching the belly move around and change shape and it was a mysterious, wonderful and exciting time …

These warm memories that come flooding back when I photograph these beautiful bellies … I’ve said it many times before, but I definitely have the BEST job in the world … capturing the connections and love between a family … the wonder on the face of a little three year old boy as he stares up at mum, past the bump of his soon to be born sibling … *sigh* … just beautiful …

Thank you so much for a beautiful afternoon session Shaw, Joanna and Micah … I eagerly await the arrival of your bubba … I’ll have your full gallery up very shortly.

I have known these two for a long time now and when Tic told me her wonderful news I could have jumped out of my skin I was so excited for her.  Tic is one of those people who you meet who are always happy. Always positive. She reminds me that there is an upside to everything just by being her.  Although we don’t get to see eachother nearly as much as I would like, I often smile to myself in silly situations where perhaps once I might have cried (eg, dropping open milk bottle on the floor etc etc) and I think of Tic’s cheeky giggle and remind myself what is important.

We decided to photograph Tic, Mark and their beautiful belly early on Good Friday morning in the lovely town of Clarendon at their home.  They were absolute pro’s. And these photos are proof.

Mark will most likely kill me for putting him on here but I think he is so gorgeous that I just had to share… (I think he thought he might be able to get out of being in the shoot but luckily he has learned early to just nod, smile, agree and cooperate)

My favourites form the shoot… WHAT a woman! Tic is so beautiful. This is what they mean by ‘glowing’.

And we can not forget Baby #1 (check out the GIANT drool hanging from his lip – that got squished into my jeans only seconds later) – this guy has no idea how much his life is about to change!

Now, rumour has it that somewhere in Mark and Tic’s house is an envelope. A sealed envelope which has not been opened. Inside that envelope is a piece of paper with either ‘boy’ or ‘girl’ written on it.  They both claim to have forgotten where it is.

Love you guys! You were both (or should I say ‘all’) brilliant and I just can not wait to meet your little ‘boy’ or ‘girl’ – see you at the baby shower Tic, and Happy Fishing Mark!

I just love photographing this family – they have been clients of ours since little Erika was a bump herself and they are always a joy to photograph – and so so easy!  How gorgeous is SJ!! And she is literally due any moment – she has the most beautiful bump I have ever seen, this is what they mean by ‘glowing’.

Spring has finally sprung!

And the babies are coming …

It was so nice to wander around Glenelg on Monday morning with this gorgeous couple. Karen is 31 weeks pregnant, and totally glowing. Ben and Karen have been living in Queensland for 4 years and were in SA for a quick family and friend visit before heading home to await the arrival of their little one.

It was lovely to have a simple maternity photography session with such a relaxed and fun couple, and on such a beautiful morning ….

I have been surrounded by beautiful bumps and blissful babies this weekend … *ahh heaven*  

I had the pleasure of photographing this little bumps’ older cousin quite a while ago, when he was just a bump aswell … 

At 33 weeks, mum looks just divine, with this gorgeous-compact-oh-so-round-except-when-the-baby-is-moving bump … this little family was just delightful

And I think I’ve captured my new favorite maternity shot … I just love this one in the hallway …
